Professor Dy’s research spans fundamental research in machine learning and its application to health, climate science, and engineering. Her work related to clinical care includes analyzing images for the early detection of skin cancer and analyzing multimodal clinical, genetic, and image data for understanding disease subtypes and progression. Dy received a National Science Foundation Career award in 2004 for her research on a novel method to analyze data using imaging to study skin lesions and cancer. She has partnered in this effort with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Dy serves as the education director for the Experiential AI Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. She earned her doctorate in electrical and computer engineering from Purdue University.
