“The Roux Institute provided us with mentorship and resources that we never could’ve had without our residency.”
—Justin HafnerTHEIR Big IDEA
What if advanced technology could transform physical therapy? That’s the idea behind Kinotek, a startup Justin and David launched in 2018 in Portland. Their computer software maps rehab patients’ movements and allows them to see their progress in 3D visualizations and easy-to-read dashboards. It also helps clinicians build trust with patients and achieve better results.

A big boost
Justin and David needed a partner to ramp up their growth. The Roux Institute’s yearlong Founder Residency program provided early-stage support, giving Kinotek access to co-location space, connections to investors, and mentorship in navigating the health science sector and an unfamiliar business landscape.
A THRIVING STARTUP
With support from the Roux, in just one year Kinotek more than doubled its team and raised more than$2 million in venture capital. Seventy clinicians across 51 clinics in the U.S. and Canada now use Kinotek’s transformative software platform.
