Selected design firm no stranger to Maine
CambridgeSeven, an architectural firm with global reach and experience in Maine, has been hired to design the Roux Institute facility at the Roux campus. With several projects designed for Bowdoin College, including the LEED Platinum Roux Center for the Environment, the firm eagerly anticipates this new challenge in Portland. The mission of CambridgeSeven – to leave the built environment in a much better place than it was before they started – seems apt for the transformation of an aging, but once ground-breaking, factory complex into a center for high-tech education and innovation.
“Even in temporary quarters, you can feel the magic of the Roux Institute so it’s really an honor to design the permanent home for this unique enterprise,” said Timothy Mansfield, AIA, Principal Architect.
The Initiative for Digital Engineering and Life Sciences, the non-profit developing the Roux Campus, will soon roll out new conceptual plans for the campus in response to public comment. All are welcome to attend the fourth Roux Campus Roundtable at the Ocean Avenue School at 5:30 pm on June 2.
