Membership Terms

Membership includes:

  • Required on-site orientation and lab safety trainings.
  • Ability to schedule access to lab, subject to availability, during business hours (M-F, 9-5pm).
  • 10 hours of lab access per month for Tier 1 members and 20 hours of lab access per month for Tier 2 members with the ability to rollover unused membership hours until the completion of the membership term.
  • Lab access for up to three (3) designated employees. Access for any additional employees beyond this limit shall be subject to additional fees as determined by the applicable fee schedule.
  • Ability to schedule time to use specific BioPILOT Lab equipment
  • Basic consumables (kimwipes, pipet tips, microcentrifuge tubes, conical tubes, etc) and personal protective equipment (gloves, lab coats, safety glasses, etc.)
  • Ability to purchase custom supplies and consumables for an additional cost via Northeastern’s ordering system.
  • Storage for custom supplies (room temperature, refrigerated and –20degree C and –80degree C freezer racks, liquid nitrogen)
  • Company logo displayed on BioPILOT website and marketing materials.

Membership does not include:

  • Cost of custom supplies and consumables (e.g., cell culture reagents and plasticware, qPCR reagents, antibodies, transfer cartridges for iBlot system, cell lines, etc)
  • Northeastern or USM faculty, staff or student hours for experimental design, data collection and analysis, or consulting
    • Additional research agreements (e.g., lab services, consulting) can be implemented in collaboration with faculty, staff and university research centers at an additional cost.
    • Student interns and co-ops are available to work on projects via established hiring channels.

Members can access a range of flexible fee-for-service collaboration opportunities including consulting, bench testing, and other research services to accelerate your R&D. These engagements are designed to support innovation while allowing startups to retain full ownership of their intellectual property.

  1. Submit an inquiry form
  2. Submit for review by USM Office of Research Integrity any novel biological and chemical reagents and equipment you plan to work with
  3. Review and sign the Northeastern University BioPILOT Membership Agreement
  4. Arrange payment of Membership fees through Northeastern University based on selected membership tier and term
  5. Complete Northeastern University online lab safety training
  6. Complete and sign the Risk and Release Form required of all visiting researchers working in USM facilities and premises
  7. Complete required BioPILOT Lab on-site safety orientation
  8. Create an iLab account to request training on each piece of equipment you plan to use
