Lucy Liaw PhD is Affiliate Faculty at the Roux Institute at Northeastern University with a primary appointment as a Faculty Scientist at MaineHealth. At MaineHealth Institute for Research, she leads a translational research team focused on cardiometabolic disease and molecular signaling pathways that regulate susceptibility to vascular disease. Specific areas of focus include the interactions of perivascular adipose tissue with cells of the vessel wall, and how these interactions are modified to promote health versus pathology. She also leads a Center of Biomedical Research Excellence in Metabolic Networks, which focuses on career development of junior investigators and maintaining scientific resources to support research in metabolic health and disease. Dr. Liaw oversees our Research Training and Education efforts at MaineHealth Institute for Research, and in this capacity works with academic partners to realize shared missions of training a robust workforce in the biomedical sciences and healthcare sectors. Dr. Liaw also holds academic appointments at University of Maine and Tufts University School of Medicine, and enjoys participating in graduate level teaching, student and faculty mentorship, and strategic planning.
