Northeastern University's Roux Institute announces its sixth Founder Residency Cohort
From improving restaurant margins to simplifying renewable energy agreements, nine startups tackling diverse industry challenges have joined the Founder Residency program at Northeastern University’s Roux Institute. The Founder Residency is a year-long program designed for early-stage tech startups with a focus on supporting underrepresented founders. Key elements include educational programming, mentorship, business services, and legal counsel, all delivered with the aim of making the startup ecosystem accessible to all.
“There’s tremendous excitement as we launch into another year with this exceptional group of entrepreneurs. These founders could have chosen to build their companies anywhere, but they’ve decided to join us here in Maine because of the unique resources and community we offer. We’re honored to be part of their journey as they scale their solutions and build something truly impactful,” said Santiago Zindel Mundet Cruz, Founder Residency director.
From Wales, Maine to Houston, Texas and points in-between, the members of this year’s cohort hail from two countries and four states, all developing technology enabled solutions that tackle business challenges:
Cactus.ai: an all-in-one back-of-house assistant for restaurants that supports accurate inventory, smarter spending, and better margins
ClaimData Software: pain journal software that documents the daily impact of client injuries, enabling personal injury, social security disability, veterans disability, and workers’ compensation lawyers to settle cases for more money
Gatherwise: an AI-powered, science-backed platform that helps teams plan and run better, more purposeful meetings
GetCampus: the first “by students, for students” marketplace that connects students with freelance gigs and part-time jobs
nested.: the all-in-one business tool that helps fractional executives start, run, and scale their businesses with tools for time tracking, billing, agreements, and insights all in one place
PETCH: a platform that helps veterinary teams stay connected with pet owners through clear, compassionate communication
Power Dime: an AI and smart contracts-enabled digital ecosystem that helps companies invest in renewable energy
Tubender: helping commercial electrical contractors install conduit faster and with less waste through the use of portable automatic conduit-bending machines
Velzee: a platform that analyzes your money, tracks your goals, and delivers clear steps to improve your financial health
This group joins 36 other startups who have completed the Founder Residency program since 2021. Over 86% of these alumni are still operating or have been acquired and they have collectively raised more than $60 million and have created more than 230 jobs.
Don’t miss your chance to connect with the founders and get involved: RSVP for the Founder Residency Kickoff, happening from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 18 at Rising Tide Brewing Company in Portland, Maine.
