Andrew Kinley

Assistant Teaching Faculty

Andrew Kinley is a full-time assistant teaching faculty in the College of Professional Studies teaching graduate analytics.

Prior to joining the Roux Institute, he earned a Ph.D. in computer science from Indiana University before teaching computer science at both the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Fordham University. His research was focused on solving problems by utilizing past solutions as a starting point and adapting them to the new scenario.

Kinley was raised and educated in a small Maine town and after time away returned to do the same with his three children. He has twice led groups through the 100-mile wilderness, seen the puffins on Eastern Egg Rock, and understands the value of an occasional Moxie.

Research Overview

Kinley teaches numerous courses in the Analytics program and is a fixture of the Introduction to Analytics course. Areas that he enjoys teaching include the R Programming Language, the Python Programming Language, Big Data, and optimization. He attempts to incorporate real-world data into his course whenever possible and is always on the lookout for new data.
