Matthew Lynes

Dr. Matthew Lynes is a Faculty Scientist I at the MaineHealth Institute for Research and Graduate Faculty member at University of Maine. He has been a PI at MHIR since 2021 and leads a laboratory aimed at understanding metabolism, obesity and cardiovascular disease. He received his B.A. in Biology from Colby College, Ph.D. from Boston University in Cell and Molecular Biology, and did post-doctoral research at the Joslin Diabetes Center studying brown adipose tissue. Matt is the recipient of an F32 Ruth L. Kirschstein Postdoctoral Individual National Research Service Award and a K01 Research Scientist Development Award from the NIDDK and is currently a Project Leader on a COBRE grant at MHIR.
