Thomas Strong
Part Time Lecturer
Tom Strong is an Instructor of Project Management at the Roux Institute.
Strong recently retired from the Central Intelligence Agency after over 38 years of service across the Intelligence Community. A seasoned project and operations manager, Tom’s last 5 years focused on space communications where he worked with the civilian, commercial, and defense space communities to balance competing equities.
Strong was recently hired to be part of a Project Management Office for a large government cybersecurity contract. He holds PMP and ScrumMaster certifications and has earned an MBA, MPM, and a master’s in technology management, along with being a certified leadership coach. As a coach, Strong focuses on helping people improve their personal and professional effectiveness through goal-setting, effective presence and communication, and innovation and creativity.
Strong’s study areas include personal productivity and its overlap with PM practices, the application of AI to project management, as well as how successful PM processes can address societal challenges.
Strong and his wife moved from the Washington DC area to enjoy the outdoors, less traffic, and to ensure their children and grandchildren would visit. So far two of their 3 children have moved here as well. Each family member is contributing to the growth of opportunities for Maine residents.
