Jim Strickland
Senior Director Research Partnerships and Translation
Jim Strickland is the senior director of research partnerships and translation at the Roux Institute. Strickland extends the impact of the Roux Institute’s research by building relationships with strategic partners in Maine, New England, nationally, and internationally, working to bridge the gap between higher education and the corporate world. Additionally, Strickland leads the Roux’s translation program, where he collaborates with researchers at the Roux Institute and partner organizations to help identify, develop, and commercialize innovative technologies in order to accelerate the growth of Maine’s entrepreneurship economy.
Strickland joined Northeastern after two decades of founding and leading highly innovative and collaborative entrepreneurial organizations in the life science and healthcare industries. His experience includes in and out licensing of technologies, pharmaceutical discovery and development, medical devices, diagnostics, and health information technology, and AI/ML. He is an inventor on five patents including novel compositions of matter, methods and algorithms, and AI/ML.
Strickland has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, Bloomington and a Master of Science from University of Wisconsin, Green Bay. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outside with family, working with early-stage entrepreneurs, and reading about the trends and innovations that will transform human and environmental health.
