Margaret Angell

Head of Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives

Margaret Angell is the Head of Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives at the Roux Institute. As a member of the institute’s founding leadership team, she leads strategic relationship development with Maine businesses, academic institutions, community groups, and government partners with the mission of creating extraordinary economic opportunity throughout Maine. In addition to her work at the Roux Institute, Angell currently serves as a member of the board of trustees of the Maine Community College System and on the board of directors of the TD Bank Beach to Beacon, Maine’s world-class 10K road race.

Prior to the launch of the Roux Institute, Angell was the first employee of the Institute for Digital Engineering and Life Sciences (IDEALS), which was launched in 2018 by David and Barbara Roux to bring a new, world-class graduate school to Portland. She has also held leadership positions at the District of Columbia Public Schools and Boston Public Schools, is a graduate of the Broad Residency in Urban Education and served as a White House Fellow. Angell holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, and a BA in economics from Harvard University.

Angell is an intergenerational boomerang back to Maine. Her family left Standish a couple generations ago, and she and her family were thrilled to come home. Angell spends her summers hiking, her winters skiing, and her evenings planning the next outdoor adventure. She lives in the Portland area with her husband and two daughters.
